Securus Technology’s CEO Richard Smith, otherwise known as Rick Smith, provides penitentiaries in North America as well as Latin America with systems which help the law enforcement community in implementing public safety laws, as well as improving the correctional environment.Because of Rick Smith’s solid education background, many felt that he was really the right man for the job when he assumed the role of CEO for Securus Technology in 2008. Rich Smith then worked in Eschelon Telecom Inc. Another major company where he was the chief financial officer from 1998 to 2000, and before being promoted to the CEO of the telecom, he was also the company’s president from 2000 to 2003. In Rick’s time at the telecom as its leader, the group enjoyed a growth from $30 million to $350 million in revenues.

Rick, driving the telecom at the helm lead it to a successful IPO in the summer of 2005. Hestayed with Eschelon Telecom Inc. until 2007.Securus Technology then hired Rick Smith to be their president and CEO. The company serves communication solutions for prisons and correction agencies.In January 2009, he also became the company’s chairman, and one of the most influential businessmen that would change its future forever.While Rick was at the helm of the company, their biggest rival has been Global Tel Link, but Securus has its own domestic call center that responds quickly to customers. Securus also has a larger set of services and products, as well as trained field technicians. Securus also has engineered the world’s largest VOIP Corrections platform, which has become one of their biggest traits that have won the attention of many customers from correction agencies and prisons across the United States.With Rick’s leadership, the company has invested more than $600 million in patents, acquisitions, and technologies in the span of just three years.
