James Dondero, the Philanthropist Behind Highland Capital Management

Highland Capital Management is responsible for a $1 Million dollar donation to the Dallas Zoo, a $2 million donation to Southern Methodist University, the Capital for Kids volunteer program, and many more programs and donations to the community. With such a deep involvement in the community, it’s hard not to question who is responsible for the advances in so many amazing programs. The answer would be co-founder of the Highland Capital Management formed in 1993; James Dondero. Under Mr.Dondero, Highland Capital Management earned the title of One of the Best Places to Work in 2015 by the Dallas Business Journal.
With his credit and equity markets, he’s helped the community in many ways. Highland Capital Management has donated to many different organizations from educational to environmental. Mr.Dondero also co-founded the Highland Dallas Foundation, which offers grants and donations to students, veterans of the military, and civic organizations.
With all of the companies Mr.Dondero is associated with, there is about
$14.9 billion in assets under his management. Mr.Dondero not only brings the community together, he brings the community together to aid in charities, organizations, and companies that all have the same agenda to help those in need.
Mr.Dondero obtained two bachelor’s degrees, one in finance and the other in accounting. He proceeded to study at the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce.
