The Chainsmokers are Continuing to Build Their Future

When it comes to the Chainsmokers they are a production and American DJ duo that happens to consist of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall. It was in 2014 that the duo hit a breakthrough with their song #Selfie. This was the one song that they had that was a top twenty single among several different countries. Then in 2010, the duo released a single called Roses that ended up reaching among the top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

When the Chainsmokers first began the group consisted of only DJ Rhett Bixler and Pall. It was in 2012 that the group was re-formed into an EDM duo with the help of manager Adam Alpert. Pall had grown up having learned how to DJ but Alpert thought that it would be a good idea to get him and Taggart together and see how the two worked as a team. At the time Taggart had been attending Syracuse University and had taken a liken to djing but never thought of pursuing it as a career.

When the duo first got together they began by simply making remixes of different indie bands. Then in 2012 the duo took a shot at collaborating with recording artist and Indian actress Priyanka Chopra, for the single Erase and then in 2013 they collaborated with her again on the single The Rookie. It was during 2014 that the duo had their very first live performance at Terminal 5, opening up for Timeflies.

On January 28, 2018, in New York City, the Chainsmokers proudly attended the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, held in Madison Square Garden. They stated that it was a day that they will never forget. One question that the Chainsmokers did come across was the question of what all it takes to make a hint. Their reply was that you just have to have fun with it and follow your heart. They then said that most of their hits came when they least expected it and that if you overthink anything that you will not get the result that you are looking for in the end.

Alex Pall And The Chainsmokers Try Something New

Finding success in the music industry, especially international success, is incredibly rare. Most artists struggle in futility, trying to build an audience night after night, if they are ever able to achieve some level of notoriety, it would be understandable to keep up the formula that got them to that point. Alex Pall and his DJ duo the Chainsmokers have achieved that incredibly difficult task, growing from a semi-popular New York City DJ into an international touring sensation. But that does not mean Alex and his colleague Andrew Taggart are going to keep making the same music that brought them their initial fame.

Alex Pall was a part-time DJ in the NYC club scene when a faithful set at an art gallery opening lead to him quitting his full-time job and devoting himself to making a career out of music. Having already established The Chainsmokers as a duo, his original partner decided to leave the group and he was left looking for someone new. Enter Andrew Taggart, a college student from northern New York who was introduced to Alex Pall through Alex’s manager. After a dinner to meet the two went back to Alex’s NYC apartment to try making music together. Andrew never left, and they spent months creating music day and night before breaking out with singles like “Roses” and “Don’t Let Me Down”.

While these hits followed the traditional formula for an electronic music DJ, that is the DJ creating the beat and melody while a guest singer and songwriter provided the lyrics and voice, the duo is looking to break that mold with their latest single, “Closer”. On “Closer” Andrew provides the vocals and the duo together wrote the lyrics.

Alex Pall and The Chainsmokers are going to continue to make great music and challenge the conventional thought that a DJ should be seen behind the turn-tables but not heard. Their fans are certainly looking forward to this new voice from the group.
